Truckee softball: Wolverines swing cold bats in league opener

The Truckee High softball team failed to capitalize on a strong outing by senior Rachel Zissimos in a 5-0 league-opening loss to Yerington on Wednesday.
The loss ended the Wolverinesand#8217; 7-0 win streak to start the season.
and#8220;We just needed to get the jitters out,and#8221; Truckee head coach Martin Davy said. and#8220;We have a really solid team. Itand#8217;s going to be a great year for us.and#8221;
Truckee was held hitless in the game while striking out 14 times to spoil a solid start from Zissimos, who gave up just three hits in seven innings pitched. Davy said Zissimos had good command of her pitches, and that two errors cost her and the Wolverines five runs.
