The Wolverines dominated 4A Hug on April 4, winning by a combined score of 362-104 between their boys and girls teams. Truckee’s girls posted 202 points to Hug’s 41, while the boys scored 160 points to Hug’s 63.
Truckee swimmers finished among the top three in 21 of the 24 total events.
In the girls’ 200-yard medley relay, Truckee took first, third and fifth, with the team of Braighlee Silvera, Molly Ingalls, Sarah Westmoreland and Cara Silvas leading the charge with the win by close to 10 seconds over the field. The team was followed by Alycia Wilson, Haley Busby, Rebecca Alcaraz and Melissa Koper. Narrowly missing fourth was the Truckee team of Kelly Habibi, Addie Shaffer, Sierra Castillo and Sarah Jahr.
No to be outdone, the Truckee boys took first and fourth in their medley relay.
In one of the closest finishes of the day, Dustin McQuarry, Andreas Barth, Justin Ondry and Zeke Vandehei had to pull out all the stops for their win. Not far behind, Truckee’s Evan Dion, Graham Holten, Ryan Kasten and Kyle Jorgensen pulled down fourth, holding back teams from Sparks, Hug and Wooster.
On the girls’ side, Truckee swept the 50 freestyle in the following order: Sophie Aaron, Rebecca Alcaraz, Alycia Wilson and Haley Busby. Another near-perfect sweep was taken by the girls in the 100 breaststroke race by Molly Ingalls, Cami Straw, Clair Holley and Kelly Habibi.
