Truckee volleyball: Maia Dvoracek voted league MVP

Staff report

The Truckee volleyball team was well represented in Northern Division I-A All-League voting after winning the regional title and finishing runner-up in the state.

Five Wolverines received All-League awards, led by junior outside hitter Maia Dvoracek's MVP selection.

In addition to Dvoracek, seniors Katie Fisher, Anais Fay and Madison Haley were voted to the All-League first team, while senior Tatum Kula received honorable mention recognition.

The awards were determined by the league's head coaches.

Dvoracek earned every bit of her MVP award. The hard-hitting left-hander, who is also Truckee's primary setter, tallied 362 kills in 93 sets, which ranked No. 1 in the Division I-A and seventh in the state. She also had a team-high 622 assists and 88 service aces.

As a team, the Wolverines swept all 16 matches in league play, dropping only one set along the way, before defeating Dayton in straight sets for the regional title. They went on to defeat Sierra Vista in straight sets in the state semifinal and lost in five hard-fought sets to top Southern seed Faith Lutheran in the state championship.
