Truckee volleyball wins two of three, boys soccer routs Yerington

The Truckee High volleyball team won two of its last three matches to improve to 15-9 overall and 8-4 in league.

The Wolverines defeated Fernley in three sets on Saturday, winning 25-14, 25-19, 25-21. Alexa Terrell led the way with eight kills, two service aces and two blocks. Melanie Lashbrook had five kills and two blocks, Nikki Schneider had five kills and Megan Murphy collected four service aces and 11 assists.

Truckee suffered a hard-fought loss to league-leading Yerington in five sets on Friday, losing 25-22, 15-25, 25-21, 25-20, 2-15. Terrell had 10 kills, three blocks and two service aces, Callan Finney had nine kills and 10 digs, Lashbrook had eight kills, five service aces and three blocks and Jordan Raber posted 18 digs.

Yerington is 11-0 in league and has lost only once this season overall (against Whittell).

“My girls came out ready to win,” said Truckee head coach Nicole Annaloro. “Unfortunately, they fell apart in game five. But the girls played great defense and were focused.”

The Wolverines defeated Dayton on Oct. 7, winning in four sets, 25-21, 25-21, 26-28, 25-23. Finney posted eight kills and five service aces, Shannon Holt had seven kills and one service ace and Lashbrook added six kills, a service ace and five blocks.

Truckee will take on Incline in the last home match of the season this Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Truckee High boys soccer team defeated visiting Yerington, 10-0, at River View Sports Park on Friday.

The Wolverines are now 4-1-1 in the Northern 3A Sierra league and 14-2-1 overall.

Al Virrey and Emmanuel Sarabia scored two goals apiece and Max Brixey had a goal and three assists. Truckee also received goals from Joey Eberhardt, Sal Tejeda, Matt Hardy, Eric Pratt and A.J. Delforge.

The Wolverines take on rival North Tahoe today at Surprise Stadium in Truckee. The girls start at 2 p.m. and the boys at 4 p.m.
