Truckee volleyball | Wolverines coast to easy win against Whittell

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; For the second time in five days, the Wolverines swept past Whittell in straight sets on Tuesday, winning 25-14, 25-16, 25-13 to improve to 3-0 in Mount Rose League play.

Annie Reiswig and Kiersten Knoppel each had six kills for Truckee, and Knoppel had 17 serves. Statistics were unavailable for the Warriors, who slipped to 0-2 in the new Mount Rose League.

The Warriors managed to keep the first two games close in the beginning. They tied the score twice in the first set but never led, pulling even at 6-6 and 12-12 before Truckee used a 13-2 run to end it. Whittell hung close for a while in game two as well, but after pulling to within 19-15, the Wolverines called a timeout and then finished on a 6-1 run.

and#8220;They have a really good defense, but I thought we did a good job putting the ball away,and#8221; said Reiswig, a senior outside hitter.

Truckee dominated the third set, holding the Warriors to under 15 points for the second time in the match.

and#8220;Having played them twice within a short span helped us defend them,and#8221; Thomas said.

Junior setter Brittany Thomas posted a 2.3 pass rating, and senior middle blocker Allison Costa had three service aces for Truckee, which also defeated Whittell last Friday, 25-20, 25-19, 25-18.
