The Truckee High baseball team beat Lowry 8-5 Wednesday behind seven strong innings of pitching from Ben Tonon, who struck out seven batters.
Offensively for Truckee, Jason Chapman went 3 for 3, Scott Decker 2 for 2 and Pablo Ruiz 2 for 4.
The Wolverines are 7-7 in league and have clinched a playoff spot, Truckee head coach Mike Ellis said.
The Truckee High softball team lost both games of a doubleheader to Lowry 2-1 and 11-0 on Wednesday.
Wolverines head coach Mitch Brown said he thought his team should have won the first game.
“It was a very good game,” he said. “We had our opportunities. We just didn’t hit nearly as well as we could have.”

Corina Mincey went 2 for 3, Kelly Stephens 1 for 3 and Cynthia Brenes 1 for 2 with a run scored.
In the 11-0 loss in the second game, Truckee trailed 3-0 going into the fifth inning before giving up four runs in the sixth inning and four more in the seventh.
Dani Turner was 1 for 2 with a double, Amanda Jones 1 for 3 and Katie Zusy 1 for 2.
The Wolverines are 4-10 in league play.
The Truckee High JV softball team lost 19-1 and 8-7 to Lowry on Wednesday.
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Wolverines scored seven runs in the fist two innings, then held Lowry scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Buckaroos put three runs on the board, then five more in the seventh inning to take the win.
Truckee dropped both games of a doubleheader to Spring Creek 17-5 and 11-10 last Saturday.
In the first game of the doubleheader, Truckee’s Lauren Cowden went 2 for 2 with two runs and Ali Tucker had three hits, including a double and a triple.
The Wolverines nearly pulled off a comeback win in second game. After trailing 9-1, Truckee took a 10-9 lead in the top of the fifth inning before giving up the go-ahead run in the bottom half of the seventh.
Ashlynn Aulwurm went 2 for 3 and Allee Macrorie hit a triple.
The Truckee High JV baseball team took a doubleheader from Lowry Wednesday, winning 17-7 and 17-6.
Behind the pitching of Justin Vosburgh and Michael Taylor in relief, Truckee pounded out 13 hits in the first game. Pablo Esquivel and Michael Taylor were both perfect at the plate, as Esquivel went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and two stolen bases and Taylor 2 for 2 with three RBIs. John DePew and Justin Vosburgh both went 2 for 4, Trever Allen 2 for 5, Scott Mathot 1 for 3 and Travis Dwyer 1 for 5. Trever Allen and Evan Hyland each had four stolen bases in the victory.
In the second game, Travis Dwyer pitched all seven innings, allowing one earned run while striking out eight Lowry batters. Offensively for the Wolverines, John DePew went 3 for 4 with four RBIs, Justin Vosburgh 2 for 4 with three RBIs and Kevin Decker 2 for 5 with three runs. Erik Petterson walked three times and hit an RBI double, and Mike Fagan, Scott Mathot and Louis Breuner each had one hit.
Wednesday’s victories marked the third doubleheader Truckee has swept recently. The Wolverines beat Yerington 12-1 and 15-4 and Sparks 7-1 and 12-5 the week before spring break.
Last Saturday, however, the Wolverines were beaten twice by league leader Spring Creek, which won 8-4 and 3-2.
Truckee is 12-9 overall and 8-4 in league.
