Sun Staff reports

AWANA Clubs at Sierra Bible Church will host a bike race for boys and girls from Kindergarten through sixth grade on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 5:30 p.m.

Sierra Bible is located on Brockway Road across from Mountain Home Center.

This annual event coincides with the XTERRA National Championship being held in Incline Village the same week. Christian athletes Paul Zarubin, a national mountain bike racer, Andy Finch, a pro snowboarder, and Courtney Cardenas, “Mr. XTERRA 2006,” will be the special guest speakers after the race.

Team Unlimited, which puts on the XTERRA events, will provide tech support. There is a $1.50 registration fee. Children who wish to participate are being asked to bring their bike (in good working condition) and a helmet as well as shoes that they can run in. The event starts at 6 p.m., with registration beginning at 5:30. All participants must be registered prior to 6, and parents will need to sign a release form.
