Squaw Valley garbage rates to increase

Garbage rates for Squaw Valley residents will rise to cover increasing costs to Squaw Valley Public Services District. The rates will increase $24 a year because of increased costs from Placer County for garbage service and to address security issues at the public Dumpsters, said utility district manager Rick Lierman.Additionally, the district will install a Web camera near the Dumpsters in an effort to reduce and hopefully eliminate problems with unauthorized dumping, leaving the lid open and general abuse.Residents can expect a rate increase notification from the district within the week, Lierman said.
