Squaw Valley USA President Nancy Cushing to retire

OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. and#8212; Nancy Cushing is retiring as CEO of Squaw Valley USA, the resort announced Tuesday afternoon.

Andy Wirth of Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. will become the resort’s new chief executive officer. He will be responsible for all aspects of resort operations and will report directly to its board of directors.

Cushing took over from her husband Alex Cushing, co-founder of Squaw Valley, when he died at 92 in 2007. She served as president of the Squaw Valley Ski Corporation since 1994, according to http://www.squaw.com.

Wirth worked for 23 years in various marketing positions for Steamboat’s ski resort before being named chief marketing officer and executive vice president of sales and marketing for parent company Intrawest in July 2007, according to http://www.steamboatpilot.com.

He returned to Steamboat as senior vice president of sales and marketing in spring 2009 when Intrawest eliminated Wirth’s position at the corporate office in Vancouver, British Columbia. As a result of Wirth’s return to the Yampa Valley, Perlman was shifted to Colorado’s Winter Park Resort, which is operated by Intrawest.

Rob Perlman will become senior vice president of sales and marketing for Steamboat. He will maintain his current responsibilities at Winter Park in Colorado as senior vice president of sales and marketing and will provide oversight for Intrawest’s strategic alliance partnerships.
