State senator considers run for Doolittle’s congressional seat

WASHINGTON (AP) ” State Senator Tom McClintock is strongly considering running for Congress in the Northern California district now represented by John Doolittle, his political adviser says.

McClintock adviser John Feliz told The Associated Press today that an announcement likely would come by the end of the week.

A crowded GOP primary already was emerging in the Republican-friendly 4th Congressional District. Doolittle, who is under investigation in a federal lobbying scandal, has announced his retirement.

McClintock is a darling of California conservatives and would be considered a formidable candidate.
