Steinhauser, Paul Stephen

Paul S. Steinhauser of Tahoe City died June 6, 2008 at his home in the Highlands. He was born March 11, 1933 in Los Angeles. Paul served in the U.S. Army in the 1950s, received an AA degree from Los Angeles City College, a bachelors degree from University of California, Los Angeles and a master’s degree from University of Nevada, Reno.

Paul worked for the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District from the late 1950s until the mid-1980s. He served as a teacher at Tahoe Lake School in Tahoe City and Sierra Mountain Middle School in Truckee. Paul, also served as interim principal at Tahoe Lake and was the first principal of North Tahoe Middle School.

Paul was an avid skier, enjoying trips to Mike Weigle’s Bugaboos in Canada, Sun Valley, Idaho, Mammoth Mountain and in his retirement years, skiing at Squaw Valley. In the summers, Paul enjoyed mountain biking, working in the garden and planting and maintaining his flowers. Paul enjoyed his travels around the United States with his late wife, Diane. He has no survivors. Many people in the North Tahoe Basin are left with memories from Paul’s many years in the classroom.
