Summer ski school to hit Boreal Mountain Resort in 2012
DONNER SUMMIT, Calif. and#8212; New twists and turns will be coming to Boreal Mountain Resort by way of a 33,000 square-foot summer ski and snowboarding facility touted by officials as the largest of its kind in the nation.
The Nevada County Planning Commission recently approved plans submitted by Boreal to open the training facility and#8220;Woodward Tahoeand#8221; in summer of 2012 and#8212; part of Camp Woodward, a company known for its youth-oriented progression and action sports facilities.
According to a Boreal press release, Woodward Tahoe will be used year-round for ski-related instruction training, special events and camp programs.
Winter snowboard and ski partnerships are not new to Camp Woodward, with a camp opening in 2009 at Borealand#8217;s sister resort and#8212; Copper Mountain Resort.
and#8220;What is so exciting for me is to be partnered with an organization such as Woodward that prides itself on being a premier learning center for youth and a training center for high level and professional action sports athletes in snowboard, ski, skate and BMX,and#8221; said Jody Churich, Borealand#8217;s general manager, in a statement.

Churich said she toured other Woodward facilities across the nation and was impressed with the training focus and atmosphere.
and#8220;They all carry an incredible vibe that we cannot wait to introduce in Tahoe,and#8221; Churich said.
Woodward President Gary Ream said he anticipates Woodward Tahoe will bring new experiences and opportunities to Boreal.
and#8220;As Woodward continues to grow its presence in winter sports, Tahoe is the perfect next step. We have learned a great deal from our success at Copper,and#8221; he said in a statement. and#8220;Bringing and#8216;The Woodward Experienceand#8217; to Boreal will be a great opportunity and an exciting adventure for all of us.and#8221;
According to the press release, starting in 2012, Woodward Tahoe will offer summer week-long camps for snowboard, ski, skate, BMX, cheer and gymnastics with on-site lodging for campers.
Woodward Tahoe will include an indoor skate park, ski, bike and skate ramps, foam pits, trampolines, and digital media area as well as outdoor park and pipe riding.
During the winter, officials said the facility will offer a drop-in and daily training program.
