Sun wins state and national awards

The Sierra Sun was recently honored by the California Newspaper Publishers Association and the National Newspaper Association, receiving awards in three categories.

At the CNPA convention June 26, the Sun received second-place awards for weekly classified and display advertising.

This week, the NNA announced that the Sun won a second-place award for Best Spot News Story, for John A. Bayless’ coverage of the “Baby Guadalupe” story on Nov. 19, 1998.

The award will be formally announced at the NNA convention in Boston on Oct. 1.
