Sunny and mild today and Friday; chance of showers Saturday
February 28, 2008
Another fine day on tap as high pressure dominates the weather pattern over the area. Highs today are forecast to reach the upper 40s to lower 50s around the lake under sunny skies and light east winds to 10 mph.
Perfect day for skiers as afternoon temperatures rise into the mid to upper 40s at the 8,000 foot resort level coupled with light winds and sunny skies. Lows tonight are expected to dip into the teens at lake level with the usual late night and morning fog around Truckee.
Friday will start out sunny in the morning with increasing clouds and southwest winds in the afternoon ahead of an approaching frontal system.
This cold front is expected to bring windy and cooler weather to the area on Saturday along with a chance of rain or snow showers by afternoon. As of now computer forecast models are projecting very light amounts of precipitation in the Tahoe area with this fast moving and narrow frontal band Saturday.
