Sunny and mild today with gusty winds and chance of snow showers Wednesday
February 12, 2008
nother sunny and mild day on tap today as high pressure remains over the area for one more day. Highs today are forecast to reach the lower to mid 50s this afternoon with light winds. Lows tonight are projected to drop into the upper teens to mid 20s with increasing clouds and southwest winds ahead of an approaching cold front.
Abrupt changes in the weather are expected Wednesday morning as a cold front sweeps in from the Pacific Northwest. Highs on Wednesday are forecast to reach the lower to mid 40s at lake level sometime in the morning hours before the cold front moves through the area. Gusty southwest winds around 20 to 35 mph are forecast at lake level with gusts to 70 mph along the Sierra crest on Wednesday. This fast moving cold front may bring some snow showers to the area Wednesday but do not expect any significant snow accumulations at this time.
Look for cooler temperatures on Thursday in the wake of this cold front along with gusty northeast winds along the Sierra crest. Much nicer weather expected Friday as high pressure rebuilds over the area.
