Sunny and warmer through the weekend, near record highs on Sunday

A strong upper level high pressure ridge will continue to build over the Tahoe area this weekend resulting in sunny skies, light winds and much above normal daytime temperatures.

Highs today are forecast to reach the upper 50s to lower 60s around the lake and near 50 at the 8,000 foot resort level. Lows tonight are expected to drop into the mid 20s under clear skies except for patchy morning fog near Truckee.

Look for sunny skies Saturday and Sunday except for some afternoon cumulus clouds developing with the warm daytime temperatures and light winds. Highs this weekend are forecast to reach to upper 60s to lower 70s around the lake and in the mid to upper 50s at the 8000 foot level.

These high temperatures will approach record highs and are about 15 to 20 degrees above the seasonal average.

Longer range forecast models are indicating a change to cooler and more unsettled weather next week as an upper level low pressure system drops into Northern California by Tuesday. Enjoy the fabulous weather this weekend and remember that it won’t last.
