Sunny, mild days and cool nights continue through Wednesday

Jim Grant/Sun News ServiceJesus Maldanado and his 16-month-old son, Christian, enjoy an afternoon together at Regan Beach park on Monday.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” A strong upper-level high-pressure ridge will bring sunny skies and mild daytime temperatures into at least Wednesday.

Highs are expected to climb to near 70 degrees around the Tahoe Basin with light winds this afternoon.

Clear skies and a fairly dry airmass will allow overnight temperatures to drop into the 20s at most Basin locations.

While nighttime temperatures are near seasonal norms, daytime readings are around 15 degrees above the normal for late October.

Temperatures will be a degree or two warmer on Wednesday; otherwise little change is expected with clear skies and light winds.

Some changes are forecast by computer models by Friday as a weak low-pressure system develops off the Northern California coast.

While the weather is not expected to change dramatically later in the week, it will be trending toward more seasonal temperatures along with increasing clouds and afternoon breezes.
