Sunny this afternoon, chance of snow showers Tuesday
Sun News Service
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” Tahoe residents will enjoy sunshine with light winds today in between frontal systems.
High temperatures are forecast to reach the lower 50s around the basin which is around 10 degrees above the seasonal normal for late November.
Lows tonight are forecast to drop into the lower 20s with increasing clouds ahead of the next frontal system moving across the area Tuesday morning.
Current forecast models are showing very little precipitation along this cold front with only a dusting of snow expected at lake level. Daytime highs on Tuesday will be about 10 degrees cooler than Monday with highs topping out in the mid 40s under partly cloudy skies.
Longer range forecast models are indicating a stronger frontal system dropping into the Tahoe area late Thursday into Friday. Stay tuned to see if this weather system will drop any significant snow fall. The amount of snow will depend ultimately on whether the track of the jet stream and cold air is over land or ocean as it moves south from western Canada.
