A suspect is in custody and an investigation is ongoing after authorities responded Sunday, Feb. 11, to a report of “suspicious shots fired” on Tahoe’s West Shore and discovered a dead body.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of Timber Wolf Drive and Alder Street in Tahoma around 12:40 p.m. Sunday, according to a press release from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy heard gunshots coming from the area of a known felon’s address.

Shortly after, a suspect was seen leaving the home. Law enforcement initiated a pursuit and the suspect was eventually taken into custody by Placer County deputies at Homewood Mountain Resort — about 2.7 miles from the original address.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office did not identify the suspect.

At the original address, a welfare check discovered a dead body inside the home.

“This is an active investigation spanning between two counties with multiple crime scenes,” noted the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities do not believe there are any additional suspects involved in the case and there is “no reason to believe there are any safety threats in Tahoma or El Dorado/Placer Counties regarding this incident.”

The sheriff’s office says more information will be released as it becomes available.
