Suspects try to sell stolen goods

After using a stolen ID and personal check to buy merchandise from the Porters in Incline Village on Monday, two Truckee women were arrested after trying to sell the goods at the Porters in Truckee later that day, authorities said.

Truckee police said the suspects used the stolen ID and credit cards at stores in Tahoe City and Truckee as well. Authorities estimated the value of the purchases as at least $1,500.

Truckee Porters employees contacted the police after the two women attempted to return the stolen merchandise from the Incline branch.

Police say they found Bria Hosier, 24, and Brandy O’Neil, 25, both of Truckee, next door at Albertson’s.

One of the women was using a stolen debit card, while the other was in a parked car in the parking lot, according to a department news release.

Inside the car, authorities said, was the merchandise from Porters, stolen identification cards, credit cards and checks belonging to an Incline Village woman.

The stolen cards and checks had been reported stolen from a parked car in the Village Green Dog Park parking lot in Incline Village.

The suspects were arrested and charged with felony identity theft, burglary and possession of stolen property. Hosier was also charged with driving under the influence of methamphetamine.

The two were booked into the Nevada County Jail in Truckee, authorities said.
