‘Sweet’ soured by accident

TRUCKEE “-No charges have been filed in a car vs. pedestrian incident that occurred Monday in the Truckee Safeway parking lot involving a local known as “Sweet.”

Truckee Police Sgt. Dan Johnston said the incident was a minor dispute with conflicting statements.

“It’s a dispute between what the driver said, what the pedestrian said, and what a witness said,” Johnston said. “The pedestrian said he was hit by the car, the driver said he attacked the car, and the witness kind of backs up both.”

Sweet said the driver hit him, got out of the car and yelled at him, and then left.

Sweet said police were very prompt in responding, and with his description, quickly found the driver.

Police have not released the name of the driver.

Johnston said the case has been referred to the district attorney.
