SWEP hosts Environmental Education Camp for Youth
Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships camp directors, Nicole Deas and Marc Chaney, have been organizing the first ever Watershed Walkabout Discovery Day Camp.
This day camp has been designed to inspire a sense of wonder in youth ages 7 to 10 through various environmental education activities. Each day, participants will explore different aspects of Lake Tahoe’s ecology through interactive games, hands on art and science projects, nature journaling and discovery walks.
It is the hope of the Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships that throughout the week children will become junior naturalists with the knowledge they gain through their education of the region’s watershed, forest, and wetlands.
SWEP will be using the Rideout Community Center as the host site for this camp during the week of July 23 through 27.
There is still space available, so sign up to participate or tell a friend about it today. Sign ups are being taken at the Tahoe City Public Utility District office. Cost is $140 for residents. Dates are July 23 through 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
