Tahoe Basin temps tie records

The high temperature in the Tahoe Basin on Tuesday tied the all-time record for that date at 88 degrees, the National Weather Service reported Wednesday.

Wednesday’s record high of 91, measured in South Lake Tahoe, set in 1988 was tough to beat this week. But it’s not over, as hot weather is expected to persist through the week. Highs could range from 82 to 92 degrees. The records from today to July 28 all surpass 90 degrees except for Monday’s 89.

Tuesday’s 103-degree record was beaten in Reno by 1 degree this week.

The nation has been inundated with a heat wave as far north as Minnesota.
