Tahoe center list down to 3 sites

Placer County has pared down potential properties for a Tahoe-based government center to three.

From its last count of six possible sites, facilities services staff narrowed the properties to the Trading Post property in Tahoe City, the county-owned Martis Valley property and the S.K. Brown Investments property in Kings Beach.

Sites in Squaw Valley, Kingswood, Tahoe Vista and on West River Road were removed from the list.

The building of a government center is an effort to consolidate county services, specifically land-use services, into one county-owned building for the convenience of both patrons and county employees.

County staff will make a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors at the July 23-24 board meeting in Tahoe.

For more information about the properties under consideration for the Tahoe government center and the county’s decision to pare down the list, see next Monday’s paper.
