Tahoe Chief’s Corner: Community Blood Drive set for next week

Mike Brown

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District will be hosting a Community Blood Drive Tuesday, February 23, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the main fire station located at 875 Tanager St. in Incline Village.

“Find the Hero in You” and give the gift of life, as part of the annual drive in partnership with United Blood Services.

Food and beverages will be provided courtesy of the Hyatt Regency Resort, Spa & Casino and Bar Bar Bar U-Bake Pizza.

To make an appointment, please contact the Fire District at 775-831-0351, ext. 0, or log onto http://www.Bloodhero.com and use sponsor code: “INCLINE.”

According to United Blood Services, during a whole blood donation, approximately 500 milliliters of blood is collected from a donor. It is then later separated into components (such as red cells, plasma and platelets) for patient transfusion.

“Chief’s Corner” is a regular feature from North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District Chief Mike Brown, offering information, tips and education material on fire safety, emergency preparedness and other pertinent topics.
