December is United Blood Services’ “Season of Giving” month, meaning all presenting donors will be entered into a drawing to win (1 of 2) $500 gift cards.
United Blood Services is the primary blood provider for Tahoe Forest Hospital, as well as 25 other hospitals in a 122,000-square-mile area, spanning 18 counties in Nevada and California. More than 400,000 people depend on United Blood Services and volunteer donors for blood and blood components.
Your donation helps assure that blood is there for you, your family, friends and neighbors when it is needed. Since blood can be stored for only 42 days and it takes up to 24 hours to prepare some blood components, volunteer donors are needed on a continual basis in order to maintain the community blood supply at a sufficient level.
Anyone may need blood at any time, so an adequate blood supply can make the difference between life and death. Because of the continual need for blood products in our community, there is no better time to donate blood than now.
Volunteer blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16, with signed parent/guardian permission form), weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger.
Save lives, and time, with our online health history fast pass. The health history questionnaire can be found at UnitedBloodServices.org and must be completed the same day as the donation; it cannot be completed a day or two ahead of time.
