Tahoe City Kayak arson case suspended

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office has suspended the investigation into the fire that burned Tahoe City Kayak on July 5, said Placer County Lt. John Addoms.

The investigation into what officials believe was an arson has slowed because there are no pending leads, Addoms said.

Until additional evidence comes to light, the case will remain open, he said.

Investigators originally believed the fire was caused by arson to cover up a burglary. The fire burned through the interior of the store and consumed most of the roof before it was extinguished.

Investigators have called the fire an arson because there are no other explanations as to the cause of the fire, Addoms said.

Tahoe City Kayak has since relocated to a new location in Tahoe City, next to Fiamma on North Lake Boulevard.
