Tahoe City teen rape suspect to appear in court
October 2, 2008
A Tahoe City man arrested in April for the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl is set to appear in court in October for 10 charges of rape of a minor.
Kenneth Rockwell Seymour, 55, was arrested on the morning of April 26 at his Dollar Point home after Placer County Sheriff’s officers received a 911 call from a family member of the 15-year-old rape victim, said Corie Quillinan, Placer County detective sergeant.
Seymour’s bail was originally set at $1 million, but was reduced by a Placer County judge to $350,000 on the condition that Seymour would wear an electronic monitoring system, said Placer Deputy District Attorney Chris Cattran.
Seymour, who also resides part-time in Nevada, provided the victim with alcohol and then allegedly had unlawful sexual relations with her, according to a Placer County press release.
Charges against Seymour include two counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor, one count of oral copulation with a victim under the age of 18, two counts of sexual intercourse with an intoxicated victim, two counts of an adult having sex with a victim under the age of 16, one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and two counts of sexual penetration when the victim is prevented from resisting, according to the release.
Seymour will appear in department 13 at the Placer County courthouse on Oct. 14 at 8:30 a.m. for a pre-trial hearing, Cattran said.
