Tahoe City woman, 21, arrested for allegedly stealing from mentally disabled man

KINGS BEACH, Calif. and#8211; Law enforcement officials have arrested a Tahoe City woman on grand theft charges for allegedly stealing from a mentally disabled man.
On Jan. 29, Placer County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Haylee Haddock, 21, for reportedly taking a vehicle, medications and personal belongings from a 44-year-old mentally disabled man.
According to a PCSO press release, Haddock met the victim in Auburn and accompanied him to his home in Applegate where they played video games until he fell asleep. When he awoke in the morning, Haddock had left and his personal property was gone.
Officers found Haddock that night in a Kings Beach motel and arrested her on a separate Placer County felony warrant for possession of dangerous drugs. Items and medications from the victim were in Haddock’s possession at the time of arrest.
Placer County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Beggs, analyzing the items in Haddock’s possession, was able to link the stolen property and#8211; including the victims keys and#8211; to the Applegate crime and charge Haddock with grand theft, according to the release.
The victim’s vehicle was found crashed on Interstate 80 at Donner Summit.
