Tahoe Forest Health disputes NBC coverage regarding new CEO

NORTH LAKE TAHOE — Tahoe Forest Health District recently issued a statement disputing coverage from the NBC Bay Area Investigative Unit regarding new CEO Anna Roth. NBC reports that “Contra Costa Health CEO [Anna Roth] is leaving months into DOJ criminal investigation“.

The NBC coverage suggests the Contra Costa Health is in the middle of “a criminal investigation by the California Department of Justice’s Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse Division, according to sources close to the investigation; an audit by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) that is expected to be released by the end of the month; and action by Contra Costa Health Plan, which CCH oversees, to resolve some of the issues identified, according to DHCS.”

Tahoe Forest Health District (TFHD) issued a statement disputing NBC’s reporting.

TFHD claims that “The Tahoe Forest Health System Board of Directors has thoroughly examined the claims against Contra Costa Healthand former CEO, Anna Roth, and believes them to be false. As of today, there is no indication, explicit or implicit, that the State of California is conducting a criminal investigation into this matter.”

Their statement also claims that “early in [the hiring] process, Ms. Roth voluntarily disclosed the existence of a “whistleblower” complaint related to Contra Costa Health during her tenure.”

The statement names Roth’s start date as March 10, 2025.
