Tahoe Forest Hospital’s First Baby 2009

First baby of 2009 born at Tahoe Forest Hospital

The first baby of 2009 was born at Tahoe Forest Hospital at 4:18 a.m. Thursday to parents Elva Estrada and Jorge Alcaraz of Truckee. The baby boy, named Jorge Ernesto, weighed seven pounds one ounce and was 19.5 inches long.

Estrada and Alcaraz said they were “very happy” to welcome their first child into the world and were surprised it was the first baby born in 2009 at Tahoe Forest Hospital as the baby was originally due on December 28, 2008.

The new family received a gift basket from Gratitudes, Safeway, Village Pizza gift cards, a teddy bear, a swaddle ME, a knitted layette from the Knitter’s Guild of Incline Village and a layette from Auburn Adventist Community Services.

A total 472 babies were born at Tahoe Forest Hospital in 2008 down from 506 in 2007.
