TAHOE CITY, Calif. and#8212; In a last-minute move, the school district has decided to table discussion on potentially returning fourth grade students to Tahoe Lake Elementary, officials said Friday.

Tahoe Truckee Unified School District Superintendent Steve Jennings said due to time constraints, the agenda item, proposed by Trustee Lisa Mohun after hearing parent pleas at Wednesday’s board workshop, will not be a scheduled agenda item.

and#8220;I have proposed a special board meeting to speak about the issue,and#8221; Jennings said.

Originally, Jennings said the issue was scheduled to be one of the last items on next Wednesday’s agenda and could have pushed the meeting far past 11 p.m. due to the degree of complexity surrounding the issue.

Wednesday’s meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Truckee High School Cafeteria.

Despite the change, Wednesday’s agenda still holds significant items to be discussed, namely a report of a tentative 2009-10 agreement between the district and teachers’ union and approval of a few November election resolutions deciding if trustee candidates should be separated by a geographic area or at large.
