CARNELIAN BAY, Calif. – After recognizing both a growing demand for remote workspaces and a desire for stronger community connection in North Lake Tahoe, Andrew and Denise Springsteel decided to create something they felt Carnelian Bay and its surrounding communities was missing.

The result was Tahoe Longhouse, a new coworking and community space opened in December.

The name “Tahoe Longhouse” reflects the couple’s philosophy behind the space. Historically, longhouses served as communal gathering places across many cultures — places where people came together to talk, plan, create and share resources. While architectural styles differed across regions and civilizations, the underlying purpose remained the same: fostering connection through shared space.

For the couple, the vision extends far beyond providing desks and office space.

“We want this place to become a community asset, a hub, and give Carnelian Bay a new shot of energy,” said Andrew Springsteel.

The owners say they intentionally designed the space to evolve alongside the community’s needs. Potential uses for the shared space could range from yoga and breathwork classes to sip-and-paint nights featuring local artists, family meetups and other community events. .

“We want the location to evolve into what the community needs,” said Denise Springsteel.

The couple says they see Tahoe Longhouse not simply as a business, but as a flexible gathering place where locals, visitors, entrepreneurs, creatives and families can connect in ways that extend beyond work.

As remote work continues reshaping mountain communities throughout the Tahoe region, the owners hope Tahoe Longhouse can help strengthen community connections in Carnelian Bay and its nearby Kings Beach and Tahoe City communities, while supporting local collaboration and creativity.

Tahoe Longhouse offers private suites, dedicated desks, open coworking space, business addresses and a team room, with additional options expected to be added by summer 2026. Located just across the road from Lake Tahoe, the couple envisions lake breaks becoming the perfect addition to the workday.
