Tahoe Queen to get makeover

The Tahoe Queen paddlewheeler will undergo a half-million dollar renovation in time to celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2008.

The Queen will be open for minimized operations from November through mid-January to accommodate the first phase of interior improvements. The boat will be open from mid-January through mid-March to operate as a unique ski shuttle, as it has done for more than a decade, to North Shore ski resorts. It will be out of operation again for exterior renovations and additional interior improvements through early spring.

The renovations will result in a new and updated, luxury saloon-style look to the Tahoe Queen, the only authentic paddlewheeler on Lake Tahoe.

One of the changes includes a decreased maximum occupancy for a more comfortable dining experience, according to Lake Tahoe Cruises, which is operated by ARAMARK Harrison Lodging.
