Tahoe Rim Trail endurance runs set for weekend

The 2007 Tahoe Rim Trail 50K/50M/100M Endurance Runs will be held July 21-22. Presented by Tahoe Mountain Milers and Sagebrush Stompers running clubs, the event serves as the USA Track & Field National 100-Mile Trail Championship, the Road Runners Club of America National 100-Mile Ultra Championship and the Nevada 50K and 50M State Championships.The course is a combination of dirt roads, single track trails and long segments of the Tahoe Rim Trail. While the course is challenging featuring 19,788 feet of elevation gain and loss and altitudes ranging from 6,800 feet to 9,000 feet it showcases some scenic panoramas, including the Lake Tahoe Basin, Marlette Lake and the Washoe Valley.Net proceeds benefit the Tahoe Rim Trail Associations trail maintenance program, the Lake Tahoe Nevada State Parks Backcountry Mountain Bike Safety Patrol, the Carson City American Legion and the South Tahoe High School cross country program.For more information contact co-race director David Cotter at 542-3424.
