Tahoe teacher arrested in pot raid

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE (AP) ” School officials in South Lake Tahoe say a fourth-grade teacher is on leave with pay following her arrest on drug charges.

Tamara Allen, 42, was arrested Friday on suspicion of cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale and destruction of evidence. She is a teacher at Bijou Community School.

District officials said a short-term substitute will finish out her classes this week before the holiday break while they consider what action to take.

Allen and Christopher Liller, 34, were arrested at their home. Police said they found $1,400 in cash, 100 marijuana plants and two to three pounds of processed marijuana.

Both are free on $35,000 bail.
