Tahoe Vista mobile home renters concerned about increasing rents, safety

TAHOE VISTA ” Renters in the Tahoe Vista Mobile Estates Trailer Park are working to finalize a letter of concern to be sent to the property owner.
About 30 to 35 people of the mobile home park off of National Avenue in Tahoe Vista met last Friday at the North Tahoe Family Resource Center to discuss issues at the property like increasing rents, parking and safety.
Residents of the mobile homes own their trailers but rent the land on which it sits.
“Hopefully some of their issues and concerns will be addressed and if not they may present something to the state,” said Emilio Vaca, executive director of the North Tahoe Family Resource Center. The Resource Center is helping coordinate the meetings. Residents of the mobile home park have met three times to discuss their concerns.
Mobile home parks in Placer County like the Tahoe Vista Mobile Estates Trailer Park are governed by the county. Property maintenance and the construction, compliance and use of the individual homes falls under the State of California’s Department of housing and Community Development.
Vaca said the group also talked about continuing to build a community of renters and to create an association to represent them.
“I see a lot of potential,” Vaca said.
