Tahoe weather: Heavy snow turns to clouds, wind

Daily staff report

Heavy snow feel for a bit Friday morning along the north shore of Lake Tahoe and in Truckee, providing the perfect start to the new year for skiers and boarders in the region. By mid-morning, the sky had started to clear.

Travel could be a bit tricky Friday, as roads are snowpacked and slick.

Area roads are snowpacked, and chain restrictions in place on most highways.
