Tahoe weather: Partly cloudy and cooler today, warming trend beginning Tuesday

Cooler temperatures and partly cloudy skies are expected today in the wake of a dry cold front which pushed across the area overnight.

Highs today are forecast to be around 8 to 10 degrees cooler than yesterday topping out in the upper 50s around the lake with some brisk north winds 10 to 20 mph. Lows tonight should drop into the mid 20s under clearing skies.

Tuesday will see the beginning of a warming trend for the remainder of the week as high pressure rebuilds back over the area. Look for highs in the mid to upper 60s on Tuesday with northeast winds 10 to 15 mph.

Computer forecast charts are showing a very strong upper level high pressure ridge building over the Lake Tahoe area later in the week.

This upper high will result in much above normal temperatures by the end of the week with record readings possible if forecast highs in the lower 80s are reached. Get ready to break out the sunscreen and head to the beach next weekend.
