Tahoe weekend weather: Record-breaking high temperatures expected

A strong upper level high pressure ridge will move slowly eastward across Northern California this weekend.

Large scale sinking motions with this high pressure system will bring compressional heating with daytime temperatures around 20 degrees above the seasonal normal this weekend.

Highs today are expected to climb into the upper 70s to lower 80s at lake level and into the lower to mid 80s Saturday and Sunday. Low temperatures are forecast to drop into the upper 30s to lower 40s under clear skies and light winds.

These very warm temperatures will lead to a destabilization of the air mass this weekend with the possibility of some late afternoon and evening thunderstorms both Sunday and Monday. Enjoy the summer like weather this weekend and don’t forget the sunscreen.
