TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — Third time’s a charm for Granlibakken Resort, which will host the 23rd annual Lake Tahoe Women’s Wellness Weekend (WWW), Nov. 9 and 10, 2013.

This long-loved program is alive with a complete schedule of speakers, exercise classes, vendor booths, a health fair, food and wine for $109. Lodging and continuing education for nurses are available at an additional cost. The theme of WWW is to provide information and inspiration on health and well-being — specifically designed for women.

Granlibakken boasts the perfect fusion of Western medicine combined with Eastern philosophy, bringing hot topics and important themes to the mix. Medical doctors and health professional will present on plastic surgery, addiction/dependency, weight management, common nutrient deficiencies, overcoming tragedy and much more. Exercise classes include daily morning yoga, Ki Gong and Zumba.

The event will close with the many-flavored “grand finale” health fair. The health fair features information, consultations and demonstrations from nutritionists, naturopaths, quantum biofeedback, bodytalk, chiropractic, acupuncture, physical therapists and many more.

WWW is excited to announce the line up of speakers for both Saturday and Sunday. Opening Saturday, author Joyce Mikal-Flynn will offer her contemporary model of rehabilitation, called “Metahabilitation: Turning Tragedy to Triumph.” Local Jill Whisler, RD will bring a talk about food, “Are you Fooled by Your Foods or Fueled?” and Reno plastic surgeon Tiffany McCormack, MD, will deliver “Is plastic surgery right for me?” These are just a few of the Saturday speakers.

Presentations continue on Sunday with Tahoe City naturopaths Christina Campbell and Stephenie Riley, WWW favorites, delivering a talk on “Common Nutrient Deficiencies” and Mel Pohl, MD, giving the talk “Addiction of Disease.” Inspirational speaker Donna Hartley closes the event with “Fire Up Your Heart.”

The energy continues with exercise classes and socials embedded throughout the program. Opening Saturday and Sunday is a morning yoga class. Saturday afternoon enjoy a Ki Gong class with Tim Schroeder. Ki Gong is a gentle form of stretching and breathing and on Sunday, Zumba is offered, a Latin-style dance exercise.

Socials are offered both evenings, allowing women time to connect, unwind and shop. Saturday’s vendor booths include clothing reps, make up, healing stones and oils, handmade art, woolens, handmade jewelry, soaps, teas, photography and more. Sunday closes with the health fair where booths include nutritional information, bodytalk, quantum biofeedback, functional movement analysis, skin screenings, bone density screenings and more.
