Take your workout to Lake Tahoe

Special to the Sun

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — Looking to get into incredible shape this summer while having fun on Lake Tahoe? CrossFit Avalanche, CrossFit Blizzard and Waterman’s Landing have partnered for a third season to offer Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) workouts three times per week through early September.

The hour-long workouts will take place at Waterman’s Landing in Carnelian Bay led by CrossFit Level 1 certified trainer Anik Demers-Wild. Formerly a competitive skier on the Canadian Alpine Ski Team and the Canadian Ski Cross Team, Wild is also co-owner of Waterman’s Landing, North Lake Tahoe’s paddling headquarters.

“The summer SUP workouts have become incredibly popular over the past couple of seasons, and we’re excited to offer them again this year,” Demers-Wild. “The workouts vary by day and offer participants a fun, challenging experience. We incorporate the paddleboard into the workout in different ways. Not only are we using it to paddle, we’re oftentimes also using the board as a prop to complete other exercises.”

Classes will be held Mondays at 9:30 a.m., Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m., and Fridays at 4:30 p.m. Participants are encouraged to wear clothing and shoes they can workout in and also get wet. The cost to participate is $20 per session for non-members, and is included in the cost of membership for CrossFit Avalanche and CrossFit Blizzard athletes. Paddleboards are provided, however participants are also welcome to use their own.

Classes are geared toward 12 participants and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Advance registration is required and can be completed at http://www.crossfitavalanche.com.
