Teen in court for hit-and-run and sex charges

The 18-year-old driver accused of hitting and killing Truckee resident Keith Stewart on Aug. 16 and who also faces two separate sexual assault allegations will appear in court Thursday and Friday.

Scott Lindner of Ross, Calif. was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run in the Truckee River Regional Park collision that left Stewart, 19, dead. He posted bail for those charges but was arrested again when Truckee police learned of new allegations of sexual assault during the investigation.

Lindner will appear in Nevada County Superior in Truckee for his arraignment hearings later in this week.

Lindner was booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility in Nevada City last Tuesday, charged with assault to commit a felony sex offense, false imprisonment, attempted oral copulation, intimidation of a victim, battery and annoying or molesting two children under the age of 18.

He posted bail for the sexual assault charges on Monday, according to Wayne Brown Correctional Facility officials.

The alleged sexual assault victims, one girl under the age of 14 and the other girl between the ages of 14 and 17, were acquainted with Lindner and the incidents reportedly occurred within the last month, according to the Truckee Police Department. Police said there is no reason to believe there are any more assaults in connection to Lindner.

The hit-and-run collision and the sexual assault allegations against Lindner are not related, police said.
