SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” High pressure will bring sunny skies, light winds and unseasonably mild temperatures to the Tahoe area today.
Afternoon temperatures are expected to reach around 60 degrees today and Thursday, or around 15 degrees above the seasonal normal for mid-November. Low temperatures tonight are forecast to drop into the mid-20s to lower 30s at lake level under mostly clear skies.
Increasing high clouds Thursday, with afternoon south winds of 15 to 30 mph, will precede an approaching weather system that will be moving into Northern California this weekend.
A strong jet stream across the Pacific will direct a series of storms into the Pacific Northwest this weekend. Northern California and the Lake Tahoe area will be on the southern fringe of this storm track, with light precipitation possible beginning Friday and continuing into Sunday.
This looks like better news for weekend travelers, with high snow levels and fairly light accumulations of precipitation projected by computer models.
