SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” A fast moving cold front will bring rain and snow to the Lake Tahoe Basin this morning tapering off to isolated snow showers by afternoon.

Precipitation amounts are expected to range from around a tenth of an inch at lake level to a quarter of an inch along the Sierra crest by afternoon.

Snow fall accumulations will generally be limited to upper elevations where 1 to 2 inches could fall. A mixture of rain and snow can be expected at lake level with an inch of less of wet snow possible, melting rapidly on road surfaces.

High temperatures today will top out in the mid to upper 40s under cloudy skies and brisk southwest winds 15 to 25 mph.

Lows tonight are forecast to drop into the teens and lower 20s with clearing skies. Cooler temperatures on Tuesday in the wake of the cold front will keep temperatures in the lower to mid 40s under despite mostly sunny skies.
