The first week of fall sees cooler weather

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” Unseasonable cool weather ushered in the first day of fall Sunday with a dusting of snow in the upper elevations and daytime temperatures in the 40s.
Around 0.15 inch of rain was measured on average across the Basin by Sunday morning. The low pressure system responsible for this cool weather will move east into the Rockies today with clearing skies as high pressure rebuilds back into the Great Basin.
Subfreezing temperatures are expected this morning, with lows in the lower to mid 20s around the Tahoe Basin. High temperature will struggle to reach the lower 60s in the Tahoe Basin on Monday under a cool northeast flow. A warming trend will continue through the week with highs reaching into the 70s Wednesday and Thursday while lows will continue to hold in mid to upper 20s.
Some forecast models are showing another low pressure system dropping into the area next weekend. Could this bring another shot of snow or just windy and cooler conditions? Stay tuned for further updates.
