There’s boat storage coming to Truckee

The Pioneer Boat Storage facility, opening for business in Truckee in September, will be a “dry stack” storage building, which will hold up to 150 boats. The boat cradles stacked five high will accommodate boats that are up to 40 feet long. It will be the first of five of these buildings in a large boat storage facility at 10655 Pioneer Trail Road, as part of the Pioneer Commerce Center.

“Our objective is to store boats fairly close to the lake and to keep them safe, most boats these days get hauled to Reno or Carson City,” said Ciro Mancuso, owner.

High storage prices at the lake drove owners to store their boats farther away, he said.

Reservations for storage will be taken in beginning in August, but prices have not yet been set, Mancuso said.

“Prices will be someplace between the Lake Tahoe and Reno rates,” he said.

The project will cost somewhere between $5 million and $6 million once all the buildings have been constructed.
