SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” Our warm, dry weather will continue for at least one more day, or possibly longer if no rain develops over our region by Tuesday.

For today, though, look for mostly sunny skies with some cloudiness beginning to show up by afternoon especially south of Tahoe.

There will even be a few showers and thunderstorms south and east of Hope Valley by afternoon but none for the Tahoe basin.

Highs today will warm again into the 80s with lower 90s near Markleeville.

For tonight, it will feel warmer as a warmer airmass begins to spread in from the south along with some cloud cover so overnight lows will only drop off into the 50s in most areas although places like Truckee may cool into the 40s.

We may finally see some showers or thunderstorms by Tuesday but more on that in tomorrow’s forecast.

As for the smoke on Saturday morning, that was caused from two locations.

One of those was the massive Zaca Fire which continues to burn in Santa Barbara county and a smaller, secondary fire in the foothills of Fresno county in Central California.

We may see more smoke from time to time as the Zaca Fire really does not show any signs of laying down and the flow will remain from the south or southwest which will only help to draw up that smoke into our region.

Until we really get into the wet season later in the fall, we can continue to expect smoky episodes from time to time.
