Today’s forecast: Windy and cooler today, brisk weather on Wednesday

A low pressure system and associated cold front will move into the Pacific Northwest today bringing gusty southwest winds and cooler temperatures to the Lake Tahoe area today.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. today for southwest winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph in the more exposed wind prone areas.
Winds in the upper elevations are expected to be sustained from the southwest around 40 to 50 mph with gust up to 80 mph along the Sierra crest. Highs today are forecast to peak in the mid to upper 50s around the lake and in the upper 30s at the 8000 foot resort level under partly cloudy skies.
A dry cold front is projected to pass through the Tahoe area this evening with temperatures falling into the mid 20s by Wednesday morning.
Look for the coolest day of the week on Wednesday in the wake of the passing cold front with highs in the upper 40s and brisk northwest winds 15 to 20 mph.
