The weekend is nearly here and so is the return to winter-like weather with cold, blustery and unsettled conditions persisting through the weekend.

The best day for outdoor activity looks to be on Sunday as the weather slowly begins to improve. For today and Saturday, expect mostly cloudy conditions with snow showers along with brisk winds and cold temperatures.

It is possible to see some accumulations in the 1 to 3 inch range today and again on Saturday with locally higher amounts around any heavier showers. Highs will remain in the 30s through the weekend with lower to mid 20s at the 8000 foot level with overnight lows in the 20s.

Westerly winds will be in the 15 to 25 mph range with stronger gusts today. The winds will decrease somewhat on Saturday but still be brisk. Later on Sunday the winds will switch back around to the northeast and become rather strong over the ridges.

Sunday will still feature plenty of cloud cover but the chances of snow showers will decrease by afternoon. I hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoy the fresh snowfall. Winter is not over yet!
